THE best underwear for adventuring.

adventure a lot. These are the only underwear I have found that can keep up with me without getting nasty stinky or all pilly in the crotch. Magical undies.

as they still feel great. I've been wearing them for a week straight
11 months ago

I wear size XL underwear, generally where a fruit of the loom boxer. Ordered these in XL, as anytime I buy an expensive pair of underwear that are designed to be form fitting I get Large, and end up not being able to wear them as they are too tight, and uncomfortable around the junk. Of course I get XL in these, and I find them really loose. I'm sticking with them though, as they still feel great. I've been wearing them for a week straight, just washing them in the shower, and hang drying them over night. They are holding up well, and don't retain any odor. They probably don't even need to be washed daily, but I'm not there yet. I've taken them into a nearby creek, and they got dirt on them, which I was able to wipe off almost completely, and wash out by hand with out any staining. These work as advertised. I've ordered a second pair, now that I know how good they are, but a size Large to see how they fit. The cost of around $30 (think I paid $28CDN) is comparable, and even cheaper than most premium underwear out there, and I've tried a lot of different brands, however these are by far the most comfortable. I'm one of those guys that needs to 'adjust' a lot, and my junk sits in them nicely that I find I don't need to adjust nearly as often.

Different colors = different feel and fit
11 months ago

So, ExOfficio has a problem. It's a real problem. I have bought far too many of this underwear to think my experience with ExOffocio’s Give-N-Go boxer brief is unique to me. I have been wearing the Give-N-Go since 2007-ish and the problem still exists. Before we get any deeper into this, I LOVE these underwear. I just want consistency. I deserve consistency. The problem that ExOfficio has is that each color of these things has their own unique fit and feel. It's enough of an issue that I am writing about it after buying maybe 4-5 dozen of these, of various colors, over the last decade +. For those coming from cotton underwear, these are a game changer. No more leaving the gym with heavy, sweat soaked calvin kleins. No more hot summer hikes where, at the completion of your journey, your sweaty undies are 4 sizes bigger than when you started. That's all done. After trying these out, you will never go back- never. They are that good. They last forever. They air dry in ridiculously fast (if you roll them in a towel to squeeze the water out 1st) and they look great. If you are a repeat customer of the brand, and you have tried different colors of these things, you have to be shaking your head like I am. Where is the consistency? Long ago I decided that black was the color for me. I preferred them to the light grey ones because they stayed noticeably tighter after a gym workout than their grey counterparts. The old royal blue ones were for hockey because they were over an inch longer in the thigh than either the black of the grey and had a very different feel/fit. YET THESE WERE ALL THE SAME SIZE!!!! Why the variation though? Fast forward to last week when I realized it's time for another dozen or so new pairs. I figured I would check Amazon, mainly to compare prices. In my haste, I mistakenly ordered the curfew (which is navy blue). On the website, they looked black so I pulled the trigger on 2 pairs. As an aside, Why the eff can't they just call them NAVY? Only the marketing geniuses @ OSG really know (or don't). That sort of nomenclature tomfoolery is tantamount to idiot parents who name their kid Mike, but they spell it as "Mi7ke" - with the 7 being silent. It's a total hardo move (says the guy with a user name of d0c <---- but that's only a screen name and the it's pretty clear @ that). Ok, back to the new navy ones - I didn't even know they were navy until I ordered 10 more pairs of black a few days later. No I can see the difference. Sadly, I can FEEL the difference too. The curfew fabric feels WAY better to me than the black. The fabric is smoother on the skin. This is undeniable. The criss-cross cut on the black is much more palpable than its curfew counterpart. Black is less silky to the touch. They wear differently as well. Same size on the label though. The navy ones are comfortably snug through the thigh and a bit looser in the crotch, whereas the black are tighter in the thigh and crotch. To me, the fit of the curfew is what a boxer brief should be; they stay in place on the thigh to keep my thighs from rubbing, yet they offer more swing room in the crotch, allowing my male anatomy to not be pressed against my body. Luckily I only opened one pair of the black, so 9 will be returned and replaced with navy/curfew. But the difference is HUGE HUGE HUGE, and I don't understand why. If Budweiser can make (in my opinion crappy, but consistent) beer that tastes EXACTLY the same in different parts of the country, using ridiculously different water supplies, shouldn’t we be at a point where underwear of different color would feel and wear the same? Consistency is the key here, or @ least it should be. Now, the Amazon pricing ... I feel like I need to check this like a day trader, because the price per pair on these has varied by over $5 (in the wrong direction) over the last week. I would like to replace the black with cur7few (see what I did there?), but @ the current prices, I could go brick and mortar and break even. Ughhh.

Almost 6 years later

I bought 6 pair in August of 2017. They are the only boxers I have and all 6 pair get worn in steady rotation. None have any tears or rips and 80% of my work is outside. The worst issue is slightly stretched waistbands after all these years. That's it.

An average guy review of the options out there - I recommend these
11 months ago

I went on a mission to switch to boxer briefs after years of boxer wearing. My main goal was to find something that stayed put, was good quality, and comfortable for my needs and activities. I am a 5'9" 190lbs average dude sized. I have being going to the gym several times a week the past few months and doing home renovations in my spare time. Boxers just don't cut it for me anymore. With all the bending, running, climbing, and building there were bunching up, riding up, just a pain in the a**. So I went on a quest and i bought one pack of several brands. Fruit of the loom premium, Hanes Ultimate, Jockey, UA boxerjock, Duluth Buck Naked and Ex-Officio give-n-go. Since I have realized that if you are a normal male, decent underwear should last you a while. Why not find something that was worth the money. All are size LARGE. I have a 35-36 waist and am not thin nor obese. Lumpy is how i would call it. Fruit of the Loom Premium - Cotton is comfy, but lacks elasticity. Gets droopy and boxer like after a little while. Initial fit was decent and was cheap in packs. After the cotton gets droopy, its bunches and rides. Didn't have large expectations, but it's a no from me Hanes Ultimate Pima - Better materials, more elasticity. Definitely stays better, but it still rides up at the gym and house working. These are pretty comfy in the cotton variety. These might do well for a less active person. They held up ok on regular work days with no activities. These were cheap in packs, better, but not what I was looking for in the value/performance arena. It's a no from me. Under Armour Boxerjock - Sturdy materials, super elasticity(too much). Sizing is too small, I expected the lower rise but these felt like biking shorts. The material is synthetic with a soft feel and thick. They were too snug in certain places and the manhood pouch was not located ideally and kind of had a athletic cup look. They ride up a little probably because the sizing is off. If i got an XL they might have been better, but they felt bulky. It's a no from me. Ex-officio Give-n-Go - Light, thin, synthetic. These are great. They stay put, they are comfy and have just enough elasticity to not feel. To be honest, the thin material is a little odd at first when you are used to cotton. My only gripe about these is that the leg holes are a little too loose on me and I have big thighs. I would certainly recommend these. They are almost $20 a pair, but they fit great, perform great, and should last a while. Duluth Trading Buck Naked - Light, thin, and synthetic like the Ex-officio. They look similar, some of the seams might be in different spots, but they are both great. You can barely feel them and they stay put and perform as great as the ex-officio. The upside here is that the legs are a bit more fitted. These are my #1 recommendation. They are like the Ex-officio with a slightly more snug fit with out feeling them. I have since ordered many more and will be replacing all but the Ex-officio ones. TL;DR version: Hanes, Fruit are cheap, cotton, comfortable. Butt they do not perform at the gym or for an active lifestyle Under Armour, like spandex bike shorts. Solid, bulky, tight, too small Ex-officio and Duluth are amazing. Worth the money and occasionally go on sale. Duluth had better fitting legs but I would reccomend either of these to anyone looking for a boxer brief that has performance. Pricier but worth it. Try one pair of them and you will understand.

Good quick-dry undergarment

I liked the ability to wash and dry quickly so I didn't have to pack as many clothing items. Unfortunately, the material is too easily snagged and after a few uses, there were a lot of snags and pulled fibers.
